The Review Procedure

Preliminary review – the Editors of the Journal of Elementology

All papers submitted to the Editors through the J. Elem online submission system by logged Author(s) undergo preliminary review. This is done by the Editor-in-Chief and/or Section Editors, who primarily assess the suitability of an article for publication in the journal according to its mission, and the compliance of the manuscript with the guidelines for authors, requirements of ethics committees, etc. Afterwards, the articles are submitted to an anti-plagiairsm check with Plagiat.pl software.

Proper review – by reviewers

The articles accepted by the Editors are sent to at least two independent reviewers, none based on the locality provided by the Authors as their affiliation (the Editorial Peer Review – reviewers know the identity of authors). The corresponding author submits a list of 4 to 6 potential reviewers alongside the manuscript. The Editors may follow the suggestion or may select own reviewers. A review is in an electronic form and is entered into the J. Elem system. After two positive reviews are obtained (Accepted by Reviewer or Correction (minor, moderate required), the manuscript is sent back to the Corresponding Author, who is requested to consider the comments made by the Reviewers and Editors. Within two months after receiving the reviews, the Author submits an improved version of the manuscript into the J. Elem. system and enters the replies to the Reviewers’ comments in the section titled Comments. If a manuscript is reviewed as needing (major) Corrections, once the corrections have been made, the manuscript is sent for another evaluation by the reviewer. If the paper receives a negative review by at least one of the Reviewers, it is rejected by the Editors of Journal of Elementology.

Final review – a decision by the Editor-in-Chief

Articles accepted by the Editor-in-Chief are submitted to linguistic proofreading. At this stage, they can be returned to authors for verification of language correctness.

A manuscript deemed ready for online publishing and printing

The Corresponding Author receives a typeset copy of the manuscript for the final approval. The author writes comments in the text and submits it to the Editors of Journal of Elemtology within 3 days. If the corresponding author has not submitted any comments or remarks within 3 days since receiving the typeset copy of their manuscript, the Editors of J. Elem. assume the article has been accepted in its current form and publish it online. Once the article has been published, no changes to its contents or form are allowed.
